We all know that laughing is good for us in some way. It was quite enlightening to hear that induced laughter has the same effects on the brain and body as spontaneous laughter. The real value in Monday’s laughter training was the methods of getting yourself to laugh. I’ve been playing with those techniques since Monday and have to say that it is truly magnificent how it affects me.  This deserves a thumbs up, thank you.

Malnor Management

Monday Morning Blues dragged me into the office on the 4th of July. The cold weather contributed to my depressed feeling. To ad to this I had to attend the sales meeting also. I wanted to cry, I was cold and frozen and wondered why had I not rather stayed in bed. Shareen, the surprise guest at our sales breakfast had the answer to my depression. She showed me how to cry and I CRIED ….. BUT OF LAUGHTER. I was not cold on my motorbike and even had a laughing cocktail. Seeing my fellow employees eye to eye with laughter. The laughter and smiling faces  brightened up my whole day. I applied these principles again this morning and YES YES it does work.

I think that it was wonderful to have a presentation like that yesterday, it showed me that the management really care about staff’s emotional well-being. Although I felt a bit silly, it was a great idea for fostering cohesion in the company and developing people skills.

Tabitha Kroucamp, Advertising Sales Executive, Shopping SA Magazine

I thought Shereen fabulous.  Nice that she was clear on not putting anyone on the spot right from the outset.  She is very funny herself so easy to laugh at her.

I love the timekeeping scenario and can’t wait to get caught out!!!!

Initially I felt resistance to the process: I thought this is too simplistic and childlike for me. However, though doing the exercises I did start laughing, which is really good and I felt the benefits. I do think Shareen reminded us about the importance of laughter and the necessity of making a focused effort to bring it more into our daily lives. And I do think it’s a state of being that we have to consciously choose, ie seeing the funny side of life and being able to laugh at ourselves and our stresses at times. I think the process also connected us in a new way, which was refreshing. But fundamentally I think she reminded us that we don’t have to be too serious and earnest – we are still allowed to play and have fun, which we forget as adults, and which we need to be reminded of.

George Papatheodorou, Business Development Manager, export & import South Africa

I enjoyed the laughter therapy breakfast yesterday, it had a positive affect on me. I’m generally a happy person but realised there is room for improvement. I’m not the type to fake anything but in this instance I see the benefit, realising the intention is a good one.

Debbie, Business Development Manager, export & import South Africa

The Laughing Therapy breakfast yesterday morning was fantastic. I will definitely apply this at work and in my private capacity. To be a more positive person and make everyone around me positive and happy.

At first I didn’t know what to think of the session and also questioned myself about the practicality of the session. But truth be told, I am now one of the ambassadors of the session. I loved it to bits and it certainly cheered me up. Laughter is truly God’s way of touching a troubled soul. The session was a great help and it really helped. I truly appreciated it.

I think it is a great, new, fresh idea to do with your team.  Once people feel a bit “lighter” they work better together. I enjoyed the experience! Yes, I would definitely recommend it for other companies to see the benefits.

Adobea Akainyah: Information Anaylst: ABSA Africa

This has benefited my team as colleagues relate better to each other and act as a support network in difficult times.

Alicia Jordan: HR Manager: Tuppaware South Africa

Thank you Shareen the executive team really enjoyed the session and had a lot of fun. We will use this in our day to day team sessions.

Janette Temblett: Executive PA: Ster Kinekor

I asked everyone, personally, after the Laughter Coaching how they found the session.  It was unanimous that everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and thought it was a great way to start the day and more importantly a great way to ease into quite a tough two day session of strategizing.

It certainly did filter into most things we did that day and was a platform for many other jokes to arise and we all certainly felt lighter in spirit for it.

It was lovely to meet you and I thank you for the time you gave us :)

Shan McClelland: Salaes Manager: Trudon

Much needed in our lives with the pressure we work under. She presented well and the affect is still felt in the office today. We still do the Very Good, Very Good mantra. Those that were late for the training sessions we had on Monday & yesterday got the “time and laughter” action that she taught us.

Rochelle Wessels: UNISA

Thanks so much for last week!!!  We thoroughly enjoyed your session!!!  We tried something new and it worked wonderfully!!!

The group responded very well indeed and our colleagues are still talking about the exercises which you performed with us.  Yes indeed, we were a lot lighter after your presentation.  Our colleagues spoke a lot about laughter at the lunch but mainly at the dinner the evening.  They could see the benefit of the session for all of us.

Ametje: Financial Director : Syntell

There were people that I knew that would grab the event and use it to the fullest – they did. There were people that I knew have difficulty in taking part in events like this – to my amazement, they took part. It is such a non threatening team building event, that nobody feels exposed in taking part. Where in the world would you be able to laugh so much in such a short space of time?

Hopefully, the team realized, that what we learnt yesterday was more about life skills rather than office and work skills. It was Great.

Abigail Richards-Sales Admin: Syntell

It was fantastic, definitely felt more connected with my colleagues. Love the fact that you don’t have to go out & buy a book that reveals the secrets to wellness & success. Truly a great tool, easy & simple too!
